SERDAR ILHAN

Serdar Ilhan was born on February 6, 1962 in Turkey. He had his graphic design degree from Mimar Sinan University, and had his master degree on Photography in 1985. After graduation, he began his career as an Art Director in an advertising agency. He had many solo and joined exhibitions and slide shows in Turkey. He received several awards for his accomplishments. He was granted "Mansion" by Art Directors' Index to Photographers in Europe in 1985, and awarded by Graphic Designers Associations in Istanbul in 1986.

In 1989, he moved to Philadelphia, USA. He had two slide shows at UPENN, The Annenberg School for Communication. In 1990 he moved to New York and in1992, he had two joined calligraphy exhibitions in Manhattan.

In 1998, he established his own Advertising and Production Company, Soongraph, Inc. Since then he has been doing cultural activities, which represents Turkish artists, musicians and culture in New York. The activities include:

In addition to his company, he was the co-owner of St. Marx Café, hosting Turkish musicians, artists, writers, historians and journalists such as Turkkaya Ataov, Buket Uzuner, Serdar Turgut, Cengiz Candar, Ahmet Altan, Bedri Baykam, Fikri Saglar, Kucuk Iskender, Yeni Turku, Ilhan Sesen and Ahmet Yesiltepe.

Currently, he is the co-owner of Maia Meyhane which is one of the most reviewed Turkish Restaurant and Bar in New York City. Additionally, he has been continuing designing, photography and producing events that brings different cultures of people together from all over the world.
